Flower Care Tips

Some of our favourite tips to assist in maintaining longevity of flowers after delivery.

Trimming the Stems

On receiving your flowers, be sure to trim their stems approximately 5cm on a 45-degree angle prior to placing them into a clean vase of fresh water. Repeat every 2 days.

Keep Vases Clean

Due to bacteria build up in vases ensure you wash your used vase with hot and soap water, or place in dishwasher when you dispose of old flowers. A clean and sterile container will assist in the longevity of your flowers.

Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat

Keep your flowers out of direct sunlight and heat.

Allow Petals To Drink

Some flowers drink through their petals such as Orchids and Hydrangeas. Every 2 days give them a submerge and soak their heads in cold water in the sink.

Keep the Water Clean

Fresh water, a clean vase and recut the stems every 2 days and keep out of direct sunlight and drafts is the secret to keeping your beautiful flowers for longer.

Use Bleach

A teaspoon or so of household bleach in the flowers water helps keep bacteria at bay. Flowers suck up water through their stems and any bacteria causes blockage.
